E.max ceramic veneers are strong and natural-looking, and they do not change colour. The gums and the natural tooth underneath still need daily care, though. With good habits, veneers can last 10–15 years or more.
Daily hygiene
- Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste. Whitening pastes with strong abrasives can dull the glaze over time.
- Clean between your teeth every day with floss or interdental brushes, especially where the veneer meets the gum.
- An alcohol-free mouthwash is a good addition.
What to avoid
Ceramic is strong but can chip under sudden force. Avoid:
- biting nails, pens or ice;
- opening packages or bottles with your teeth;
- biting directly into very hard food with your front teeth (cut it instead).
Bruxism: protect your veneers at night
If you grind or clench your teeth, especially at night, ask us for a custom night guard. It protects both the veneers and your natural teeth, and it is the best insurance for your investment.
Do veneers stain?
The ceramic itself does not stain. The edges and any composite parts can pick up colour from coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. Rinse with water after dark drinks and keep up your professional cleanings.
Regular check-ups
Come for a check-up and professional cleaning every 6 months. We check the edges, the bite and the health of your gums, and polish the veneers with materials that are safe for ceramic.
When to call the dentist
Call us if a veneer feels loose, chips or cracks, if you notice a dark line at the edge, if the gum around a veneer bleeds or is swollen, or if your bite suddenly feels different.
